Because I need you to carry me
over the threshold to bed.

AUTHOR'S NOTE:

I like the idea that “translate” is a calque for “metaphor.” Even though the words are made up of component parts that mean the same thing (different principal parts), I’m not certain about the relationship between the two words, and I don’t care. If the idea isn’t philologically accurate, it ought to be.
