and we agree.

Few wince
most

give over

to arrogance
knowing no better
predictor

of success.

“On first meeting,” begun as a character study inquiring into the relationship (inevitable?) between arrogance and success, suggests a turning point when the once passive we give over to arrogance and are set as well on the path to becoming they.
