Skeins sheep-shorn, we gather;
make a nest. Bilberry bushes plucked
to bare red branches.

AUTHOR'S NOTE:

Both these poems were written while hiking in the remote Westfjords region of Iceland as part of the Wildfjords Trail’s Artists Residency. (Kate is referring to “Of Knowledge” as well.)

“Winter” is a fairly straightforward transcription of what I saw hiking through that landscape (beautiful, desolate).
